            <p> I am past writing &#8212; the hand will not answer to the will. Happily my business
              is to cut out, &amp; connect.<anchor xml:id="a"/><note place="bottom" resp="#KG">Hone
                is likely referring to his work at the <title>Patriot</title> which often involved clipping
                articles from other papers for reprinting. <ref target="#a"> [return]</ref></note>
              When that power ceases, I am certain of little sympathy &#8212; but resign myself to
              the mercy of God &amp; his Providence. </p>
