            <p> What time &amp; space would allow, was done for your pamphlet in Sunday’s paper; but
              we shall endeavour to do something more.<anchor xml:id="a"/><note place="bottom"
                resp="#KG">The pamphlet in question here is Hone's <ref type="publication"
                  target="../../bibliographical/annotated.html#AspersionsAns-24"><title>Aspersions
                Answered</title></ref>, his rejoinder to the scathing review he had received from the
                <ref type="publication"><title>Quarterly</title></ref> for his earlier publication of the <ref type="publication"
                  target="../../bibliographical/annotated.html#ANT-20"><title>Apocryphal New
                    Testament</title></ref> (1820) and <ref type="publication"
                      target="../../bibliographical/annotated.html#AMD-23"><title>Ancient Mysteries Described</title></ref>
                (1823). <ref target="#a">[return]</ref></note></p>
            <p> Do you not think the enclosed list of your books, with what you may consider the
              most useful recommendatory notices of the <ref type="publication"
                target="../../bibliographical/annotated.html#AMD-23">Ancient Mysteries</ref>, would
              be a serviceable advt. for you in the <ref type="publication">Examiner</ref>, of
              course free of charge? If so, be good enough to mark out some of the eulogies, &amp;
              the remainder shall appear.</p>
            <p> We should be glad to have our names down in the subscription list of the History of
              Parody, for 3 copies.<anchor xml:id="b"/><note place="bottom" resp="#KG">Since 1818 Hone had been working on what was to be his masterpiece, <title>A History of Parody</title>.  The volume was long-advertised, and Hone had collected many subscriptions, but the work was never completed. <ref target="#b">[return]</ref></note></p>
