<p>My correspondence with <ref type="person" target="whoswho.html#CruikshankGeorge">Mr. Cruikshank</ref> has been almost exclusively personal, and, as I intimated, I have no letters of his with his autograph, except of an entirely private nature - however I wrote him a note which has produced the enclosed - not without some effort on his part for he dislikes letter writing even more than I do. I was obliged to see the dog about it even after I wrote him for it.</p>
<p>I beg one favor of you which I hope if an opportunity occurs you will remember - that <milestone unit="fol" n="1v"/> as I earnestly desire to possess the hand writing of honest Daniel De Foe, if you ever meet with a letter of his besides the two you already possess, and which you cruelly determine to keep for fix fashion, I beg you will secure it for me at any price you please - he was one of the only order of nobility on this earth for which I entertain any respect</p>
